Land of Lincoln, Springfield, Il

What a great past couple of days. Yesterday, Wednesday, we spent the whole day at the campground. There was plenty to keep us busy with school work. Recess was playing in the park across from the RV. There are quite a few kids here, some live here full-time, so the kids have all made a bunch of new friends. It was nice to stay put for the day, catching up on school, laundry etc. Today we drove back into town and saw Lincoln's tomb (very beautiful), the Illinois State Museum in downtown Springfield, and then the highlight was seeing Lincoln's home in Springfield. He lived here for close to 25 years. He and his wife, Mary Todd, were married here, had four children, and are burried here with the exception of their only child who lived to be an adult, Robert. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetary. Mary saw three of her children die, her husband murdered, and was later in life commited by her son Robert. They think she went crazy with grief.

I have to keep this short, there's much to do still tonight. Dinner, reading, more laundry and packing up for tomorrow. We will drive to Hannibal, MO, tomorrow and learn all about Mark Twain. Tonight we'll finish reading Tom Sawyer. I still can't seem to post any pictures, so maybe over the weekend that will happen.
